Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Saturday that his government will no longer tolerate any snags and impediments in the way of investment for foreign investors, including the Turkish brothers. Addressing a Turkiye-Pakistan Business Council meeting in Istanbul, the premier stressed the Turkish companies to invest in Pakistan, adding that the infinite potential between the two brotherly countries should also reflect in their bilateral trade and business. “I want to convey this message to all through you that we are brothers and family and will not tolerate snags and impediments that hurt our ties,” he said, reassuring that his government will address and remove all their genuine issues. Shehbaz further assured Turkish investors that his government will fully provide a hassle and red tape free environment to them. Read PM seeks strategic partnership with Turkiye The premier further said that it was regrettable that Turkish companies that had invested in Pakistan were not given their due payments during the past regime. Similar, was the case with the Turkish airlines operating in Pakistan. Shehbaz also said that the two countries had singed an MoU to enhance the bilateral trade volume upto $5 billion in the next three years. He further told investors that they should make efforts and endeavors to double this trade volume in the next three years, with strong commitment and sincerity of purpose as “only hard work and untiring efforts will be key to a wonderful success story”. “Though the people of the two countries speak different languages, they understand each other, and their hearts beat together,” he said, adding that historical relations and fraternal ties were not properly reflected in the volume of bilateral trade and business. The premier also said that in every country, the trade, investment and business activities were governed by the financial rules and regulations, adding that in this regard, the two brotherly countries had ironed out their problems to a great extent. The PM also said that governments come and go, but the trade and business ties between the brotherly countries should not be impacted. PM Shehbaz is currently on a two-day official visit to Turkey at the invitation of President Erdogan. A day earlier, on arrival at the Istanbul International Airport, the prime minister and his high-level delegation were received by the Istanbul deputy governor and senior officials of the government of Turkiye.
