Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and other PTI leaders on Sunday were booked for clashes between police and party activists outside the Islamabad judicial complex. In the first information report, which was registered by SHO Rashid of Ramna police station, the former prime minister and 17 other PTI leaders were named. Ali Nawaz Awan, Aamir Mehmood Kayani, Asad Qaiser, Farrukh Habib, Asad Umar, Umar Ayub, Jamshed Mughal, Ali Amin Gandapur, Ehsan Khan Niazi, Mohammad Asim and Shibli Faraz are also named in the FIR. Moreover, a total of 38 protesters were detained for vandalizing the premises and state property. Read Imran Khan’s warrants canceled after day-long chaos The FIR stated that the ousted premier reached the G-11 Judicial Complex along with a crowd at 3:30pm, adding that the crowd accompanying Imran pelted stones at the police. The party workers tried to enter the premises by breaking the gate and surrounded the judicial complex from all sides, added the FIR. The FIR also noted that the PTI workers also surrounded and tortured the policemen and set fire to the police check post in sector G-11. A 9mm pistol, official wireless, and Rs20,000 were stolen from an official vehicle, while the protesters also took away 8 anti-riot kits from the policemen, the FIR added. The report also noted that protesters burnt two government vehicles and seven motorcycles parked in the parking area, adding that the protesters smashed 16 vehicles and four motorcycles outside the judicial complex with sticks and stones. A day earlier, intense clashes broke out between the police and PTI activists as Imran’s convoy reached the judicial complex ahead of his appearance before the district and sessions court in the Toshakhana case. The PTI chairman’s vehicle was stopped merely 100 metres from the gate of the judicial complex as the police blamed party activists for blocking the route, while the PTI claimed the law enforcers were restricting Imran’s movement. Despite the end of court hours, the PTI chief could not appear in front of the judge.
