In his application to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Islamabad, a copy of which is available to The Express Tribune, Senator Afnan alleged that Marwat had assaulted him, slapping him three times during the altercation. The senator claimed he had to seek medical treatment for injuries to his face and head as he fell unconscious during the altercation. Javed Chaudhry, the host of the talk show, expressed his astonishment at the turn of events. He noted that while verbal sparring is not uncommon on political talk shows, he never expected a confrontation to escalate to physical violence.
